Ten Fastest Growing Sites for November
Social networking site Facebook.com was the fastest growing property in France in November, up 83 percent to 1.9 million unique visitors. There was growth elsewhere in the conversational media category with increased traffic to two blogging sites. Oldiblog.com grew 28 percent to 1.9 million unique visitors, while WordPress grew 16 percent to 2 million unique visitors.
With the Christmas shopping season well underway in November, six of the top ten fastest growing French properties came from the retail sector. Arcandor AG experienced the most rapid growth, up 42 percent to 2.4 million unique visitors, driven largely by increased traffic to pure play online clothing specialist, Quelle.fr. It was joined by two other online pure play retailers, Amazon Sites, which was up 16 percent to 6.1 million and Groupe Priceminister, which was the largest of the fastest growing properties, up 13 percent to 8.2 million unique visitors.
Outside of these properties, the biggest increases in online retail traffic were seen in the electronic goods sector. Sony Online was the third fastest growing property in November, up 40 percent to 1.8 million unique visitors. Fotovista Group was up 27 percent to 3.8 million unique visitors, driven largely by increased traffic to online pure-play electronic goods retailer, prixmania.com. This was also the case for Kingfisher, whose growth was largely driven by increased traffic to multi-channel electronic goods retailer, Darty.com, causing the property to grow 15 percent in November to 2.3 million unique visitors.
